چکیده

Abstract Background and Objectives The availability of a limited arsenal antibacterial agents effective against Burkholderia pseudomallei, the causative agent melioidosis, together with sporadic reports emergence resistance necessitates an evaluation in vitro activity new antimicrobials clinical B. pseudomallei isolates. Cefiderocol (CFDC), novel siderophore cephalosporin, ceftazidime-avibactam (CZA), β lactam combination agent, have shown promising results for treatment difficult-to-treat Gram-negative bacilli infections options. This study was conducted to determine CFDC CZA contemporary collection 60 Materials Methods Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) were determined by broth microdilution E-test, respectively. performance disk diffusion also evaluated CFDC. Results All isolates susceptible MIC range 0.125 2 mg/L 0.19 1 mg/L, Zone diameters ranged from 31 40 mm. Conclusion exhibited excellent Further pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamics studies trials are needed prove efficacy melioidosis.

In-vitro susceptibility of Burkholderia pseudomallei to cefoperazone-sulbactam combination.

Melioidosis is endemic in Malaysia. Emerging resistance with new and current antimicrobial agents has underscored the need to look further for new antimicrobial agents for the treatment of melioidosis. Hence, we evaluated the in-vitro susceptibility of fifty locally isolated strains of Burkholderia pseudomallei, the causative agent of melioidosis to cefoperazone-sulbactam combination using the ...

The In Vitro Antibiotic Susceptibility of Malaysian Isolates of Burkholderia pseudomallei

Acute melioidosis may present as localised or septicaemic infections and can be fatal if left untreated. Burkholderia pseudomallei resistant to antibiotics used for the treatment of melioidosis had been reported. The aim of this study was to determine the in vitro antibiotic susceptibility patterns of Burkholderia pseudomallei isolated in Malaysia to a panel of antibiotics used for the treatmen...

Molecular Basis of Rare Aminoglycoside Susceptibility and Pathogenesis of Burkholderia pseudomallei Clinical Isolates from Thailand

BACKGROUND Burkholderia pseudomallei is intrinsically resistant to aminoglycosides and macrolides, mostly due to AmrAB-OprA efflux pump expression. We investigated the molecular mechanisms of aminoglycoside susceptibility exhibited by Thai strains 708a, 2188a, and 3799a. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS qRT-PCR revealed absence of amrB transcripts in 708a and greatly reduced levels in 2188a and...

Phylogeography of Burkholderia pseudomallei Isolates, Western Hemisphere

The bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei causes melioidosis, which is mainly associated with tropical areas. We analyzed single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) among genome sequences from isolates of B. pseudomallei that originated in the Western Hemisphere by comparing them with genome sequences of isolates that originated in the Eastern Hemisphere. Analysis indicated that isolates from the Wes...
